Education
Junior Education major at Saint Cloud State University
Experience
I am currently attending St. Cloud State University as a biology education major. My goal, once I complete school, is to become a high school science teacher, preferably in the life sciences. I have completed a majority of general education courses as well as advanced science and teaching courses. The science courses I have completed include two semesters of general chemistry, organic chemistry, general biology, animal and plant biology, and microbiology. I have also completed courses based on ethics and minority groups, educational philosophies and global teaching trends, and a course entitled "understanding human differences". In the past I have tutored younger children, ages six to eight. The basic skills I helped these children with were math skills and fundamental language skills (learning the alphabet and how to pronounce each letter). The experience I gained from helping these students learn is something that can not be replaced. I learned that each student truly learns at his or her own pace and needs special tools to help them achieve their academic goals. I believe I am skilled at finding these tools and implementing them into my tutoring sessions.
